Family identifies 28-year-old R21 victim

The family of 28-year-old Gracious Mkhomo has positively identified her as one of the women whose body was discovered along the R21 in Kempton Park.

Mkhomo was the third woman whose body was discovered in the Kempton Park area on 10 September 2026. She was found partially clothed.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the South African Police Service (SAPS) continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mkhomo’s death, as well as other cases involving women whose bodies have been discovered in the area.

Mathe said investigations are progressing, with a multidisciplinary team of investigators working around the clock to establish the circumstances surrounding the deaths and identify those responsible.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Gracious Mkhomo during this extremely difficult time. Our investigators remain seized with these cases, and we will continue to pursue every available lead to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice,” said Mathe.

“With Kempton Park on lockdown, investigations remain ongoing,” said Mathe.
