Crime Intelligence Deputy Head Major General Feroz Khan has been dismissed from the South African Police Service (SAPS) after the Labour Court dismissed his urgent application to stop a disciplinary hearing that could have resulted in his dismissal.
SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe confirmed Khan’s dismissal in a statement issued on Wednesday, 2 September.
She said Khan was deemed dismissed in terms of Regulation 9(7)(b) of the SAPS Discipline Regulations after he failed to appear before the designated senior officer responsible for dealing with the expedited disciplinary process.
“Major General Khan was deemed dismissed in terms of Regulation 9(7)(b) of the SAPS Discipline Regulations, following his failure to appear before the designated senior officer responsible for dealing with the expeditious disciplinary process,” Mathe said.
The Labour Court had dismissed Khan’s urgent application to interdict the disciplinary process.
Mathe said SAPS remained committed to accountability, discipline and professional conduct within the organisation.
“No member, regardless of rank or position, is above the law or the applicable disciplinary framework,” she said.
SAPS said it would continue to respect and abide by court decisions, adding that further information would be provided where legally permissible.
