Police have launched a manhunt after the body of a 40-year-old woman was found concealed inside a pit toilet at her home in Ha-Lambani Mahagala, outside Thohoyandou, on Sunday.
Limpopo Police Spokesperson Malesela Ledwaba said the gruesome discovery was made at about 11.40am when family members found the woman’s body inside the pit toilet, covered with a blanket.
He said Police and Emergency Medical Services personnel were called to the scene, where the woman’s body was retrieved from the pit toilet.
Ledwaba said preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had sustained injuries to her face and head.
He further said that detectives later visited the home of a suspect linked to the murder, but he was not found.
A murder case has been opened and police are searching for the suspect.

Investigations are continuing.
