The Competition Commission has concluded that seven complaints against various businesses do not contravene the Competition Act, while accepting the withdrawal of a separate complaint brought by Hudaco Trading against Syspro.
In a statement issued on Thursday, 22 October 2026, Competition Commission spokesperson Siyabulela Makunga said the decisions formed part of the matters considered at the Commission’s ordinary meeting on 20 October.
The complaints found not to contravene the Act included a case brought by Risk Insights, whose chief executive is Dr Andrey Bogdanov, against the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and Global Credit Ratings.
The Commission reached the same conclusion in a complaint by Chatwin Arends against H&I Construction.
Other complaints involved Donald Gaskin and SCW Group Nissan Milnerton Cape Town; Unathisiyanda Logistics Services and Transnet; Moses Shakwane and Sizekhanya Holdings; Kagiso Andrew Kekana and Sophie Mathibela against MultiChoice Group and Canal+; and Uvesh Mahadeo, on behalf of Dru Enterprise and TUC VR, against Roelou Slabbert and ARIA Properties.
In each of the seven matters, the Commission concluded that the conduct complained of did not contravene the Competition Act.
The statement did not provide detailed reasons for the conclusions in the individual cases.
Separately, the Commission accepted the withdrawal of a complaint brought by Hudaco Trading against Syspro.
The withdrawal means the Commission accepted the complainant’s decision to withdraw the matter, rather than announcing a finding on the merits of the complaint.
The decisions form part of the Commission’s work in assessing complaints brought by members of the public and businesses under the Competition Act, which governs competition matters in South Africa.
The Commission also considered several merger and acquisition transactions at the same meeting, including proposed acquisitions in the energy, property, automotive, livestock and manufacturing sectors.
