Businessman Katiso “KT” Molefe, who is among those accused of the murder of popular musician Oupa Sefoka, known as DJ Sumbody, appeared in the Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg on Monday, where his case was postponed to July 19, 2027.
The National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) Gauteng spokesperson, Magaboke Mohlatlole, said the postponement would allow a separate trial involving co-accused Tiego Floyd Mabisela, 45, and Musa Kekana to be finalised.
The court ordered that the partly heard proceedings continue uninterrupted until their conclusion, as the same prosecutors and some defence lawyers are involved in both matters.
Molefe’s bail was extended, while his co-accused, Michael Pule Tau, 55, Mabisela and Kekana remain in custody.
The accused face 35 charges, with the State alleging that Molefe orchestrated Sefoka’s murder together with his co-accused.
Sefoka was shot and killed in Woodmead on November 20, 2022.
The State further alleges that forensic evidence links the high-calibre rifles used in Sefoka’s murder to other high-profile killings, including those of Hector Buthelezi, popularly known as DJ Vintos, Don Tindleni and Armand Swart.
The NPA said it remained ready to proceed with the trial and was committed to prosecuting the matter without further delay once the outstanding proceedings had been concluded.
