Rami Chuene ‘misleading the nation’ over daughter’s OnlyFans

Veteran actress Rami Chuene has been accused of “misleading the nation” and promoting prostitution.

This after she publicly backed Ntanteng Chuene, her daughter’s OnlyFans career.

The attack came from Siphoesihle Nkomonde, in a video posted on Facebook.

“You’re promoting prostitution in South Africa. You’re promoting kids to post their photos on OnlyFans. You want kids to do prostitution, and we as society must see that as artistry?” said Nkomonde.

He called Chuene a bad influence and said the public should stop listening to her.

“She’s a bad example, and people must not listen to her again. She’s a bad influence in our society.”

Nkomonde said he was reacting to a television interview in which Chuene stood by her daughter, Nthateng, who creates adult content on the subscription platform.

“Sis Rami, I like your work, and what I’m going to say is not because I hate you, but because I don’t agree with what you’re doing, especially as a parent,” he said.

He mocked Chuene’s argument that her children are artists who express themselves freely.

“Now I have a question. What does it mean to be expressive? Does it include being public? Is nudity part of self-expression? Please, Rami, don’t take us for fools,” he said.

He said Chuene’s fame made her stance more damaging.

“There are people who watched The Queen and wished to be Gracious later in life. You’re a role model to many people. But when you speak like that, you’re misleading the nation,” he said.

He accused her of putting money before values.

“You’re prioritising money and losing social values,” he continued.

Nkomonde said OnlyFans was about more than photographs.

“It’s a porn site, a prostitution website. People are selling sex on that website,” Nkomonde said.

He tied his criticism to the country’s hopes for women in leadership.

“We still want to have a female president, but what you’re doing is making us lose hope. What kind of female president are we going to have if women are encouraged to go and sell their bodies on OnlyFans?”

He also claimed Chuene’s peers were unhappy with her.

“I’m sure even your colleagues are disappointed in you and your decision. I don’t care what you say, but you are supporting nonsense,” he said.

Nkomonde also brought businessman and politician Kenny Kunene into the row.

“Kenny Kunene once tried to do this, and women came out in their numbers and opposed him. Today it’s not owned by Kenny Kunene but by somebody else, and it’s you women who endorse prostitution,” he said.

In the video, he also made remarks about Chuene’s personal and family life.

Africa Daily has sent questions to Chuene. Her response will be added once received.

The row is the latest flare-up in a debate that has followed Chuene for years.

Earlier this month, a screenshot of her 2019 post promoting Nthateng’s OnlyFans page resurfaced on X. It split users between those calling her a “cool mom” and those expressing outrage.

In that October 2019 post, Chuene promoted the subscription page, which Nthateng had set up to raise money for culinary school.

Nthateng was a 23-year-old Rhodes University graduate at the time.

More recently, during a joint television appearance, Chuene stood by her daughter as Nthateng spoke about her move into adult content creation.

OnlyFans is a UK-based subscription platform launched in 2016, where followers pay a fee to unlock content.

It is popular in the adult entertainment industry but is also used by musicians, comedians and other creators.
