A 42-year-old woman was robbed of money she received as gifts during her Xiseveseve party after two armed suspects stormed her home at Mokwakwaila village in Limpopo in the early hours of Sunday.
The woman was sleeping with about 10 relatives when the suspects allegedly forced their way into the house at around 04:20 and demanded the money she had received during the celebration.
Limpopo police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the woman had hosted the party, where guests gave her money as gifts.
The suspects, both armed with firearms, allegedly searched the house after the woman told them that her sister, who does not live with her, had taken the money.
They eventually found an undisclosed amount of cash.
One of the suspects allegedly fired a shot into the air before assaulting the woman with a steel pipe.
The suspects then fled with the money and allegedly fired several shots as they drove away.
Police have opened a house robbery case and launched a manhunt for the two suspects.
Anyone with information that could assist police in tracing the suspects is urged to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Lawrence Maluleke, on 060 996 0062.
Information can also be reported to the nearest police station, Crime Stop on 08600 10111 or through the MySAPS app.
