The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) says it is ready to proceed with the prosecution of media personality Molemo Katleho Maarohanye, popularly known as Jub Jub, in a firearm-related case.
Maarohanye appeared before the Germiston Magistrates’ Court on Monday 7 September after he failed to attend a previous court proceeding.
The State requested a postponement to allow it sufficient time to furnish the defence with the contents of the docket.
The matter was postponed to 17 September 2026.
Maarohanye faces charges of possession of an imitation firearm with the intent to commit an offence and pointing an object likely to cause a person to believe it is a firearm.
The charges stem from an incident involving an e-hailing driver in Edenvale on 14 June 2026.
According to the NPA, law enforcement officials seized a pellet gun from Maarohanye’s residence during the investigation into the incident.
Gauteng NPA spokesperson Magaboke Mohlatlole said the prosecution has now finalised its investigations and is ready to proceed with the case.
“The NPA reiterates its readiness to proceed with the matter and remains committed to ensuring that the prosecution is conducted fairly, impartially, and in accordance with the law,” Mohlatlole said.
The case will return to the Germiston Magistrates’ Court on 17 September, when further proceedings are expected to take place.
