A second public apology has landed on the desk of EFF leader Julius Malema in the space of a weekend.
Less than 24 hours after media personality Ngizwe Mchunu formally apologised to the EFF president, celebrity blogger and gossip commentator Musa Khawula has followed suit after making allegations about Malema and his wife, Mantoa Matlala Malema.
Documents before the court reveal that Khawula signed a public apology retracting a series of claims he posted on X during February 2026.
In the statement, Khawula withdrew allegations suggesting that the Malemas’ marriage had broken down, that the couple was involved in divorce proceedings, that the politician had been unfaithful and that he had allegedly offered him money to remain silent.
Khawula acknowledged that the claims were false, unverified and defamatory.
He further accepted that he had no evidence to support the allegations and conceded that there were no divorce proceedings involving the Malemas. He also admitted that neither Malema nor any representative acting on his behalf had ever paid him any money.
The outspoken blogger further recognised that his social media posts were unlawful and wrongful, and that they had caused harm to the reputation of the Malema family while subjecting them to embarrassment, distress and unnecessary public speculation, including affecting their children.

“I sincerely and unreservedly apologise to Mr Julius Sello Malema, Mrs Mantoa Matlala Malema and the Malema family for the harm and distress caused by my posts,” reads part of the apology.
The apology comes after the Malemas successfully pursued legal action against Khawula, who allegedly ignored a demand to remove the offending posts.
The high court subsequently granted an interdict against him and ordered him to pay punitive legal costs.
Although he complied with the court order and published the apology, Khawula appeared unwilling to abandon the tongue-in-cheek style that has become synonymous with his social media presence.
In a post on X, he wrote: “Askies neh, my sweet angel baby pie @Julius_S_Malema. I’m also gonna be voting EFF, we can’t afford to lose even one vote by shipping my lil broke ass to prison, think ahead, my sweet darling, oh! how I love you.”
The post quickly generated reactions online, with some users viewing it as sarcasm while others questioned the sincerity of his apology.
Khawula is now the second prominent figure in as many days to publicly retract statements and apologise to Malema.
On Friday, Ngizwe Mchunu also issued an unreserved apology following legal proceedings stemming from comments he had made about the EFF leader.
The two apologies represent a notable legal triumph for Malema, who has increasingly relied on the courts to challenge allegations he believes are false and damaging to his reputation and that of his family.
For now, both Khawula and Mchunu have publicly withdrawn their statements and apologised, bringing two separate legal disputes involving the EFF leader to a close.
It remains to be seen how his legal battle with Patrotic Alliance Deputy President Kenny Kunene pans out.
