Triple-murder suspect Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma has pleaded guilty to illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition, as well as entering South Africa while wanted as a fugitive in the United Kingdom.
Tshuma, a 45-year-old British national of Zimbabwean descent, is wanted by Bedfordshire police in connection with the deaths of his 42-year-old wife, Zandile, and their two daughters, Natalie, 15, and Nala, 5.
The three victims were laid to rest in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, in August.
Tshuma allegedly fled the UK on July 4 before being arrested by local police in Kensington, Johannesburg, on July 10. At the time of his arrest, he was allegedly found with an unlicensed 9mm handgun.
According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), Tshuma initially entered South Africa legally through OR Tambo International Airport on July 5. However, his immigration status later changed after he was identified as a fugitive.
“Under the Immigration Act, he is regarded as both a prohibited and undesirable person and is therefore considered to be in the Republic illegally,” said NPA spokesperson Magaboke Mohlatlole.
