Jub Jub Details Girlfriend’s Kidnap Ordeal in Court Papers

Uyajola 9/9 presenter Jub Jub has revealed that his girlfriend was the victim of an attempted kidnapping and that he feared she may have been violated by an Uber driver ferrying her to his Eikenhof home in the south of Johannesburg.

Jub Jub, whose real name is Molefe Maarohanye, made the startling allegations in an affidavit filed in the Johannesburg High Court, where he challenged law enforcement authorities’ failure to bring him before court following his arrest on 14 June 2026.

The High Court subsequently ordered Edenvale Police Station to release him on R5 000 bail. He is expected to appear in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on 22 June 2026.

In the affidavit, which Africa Daily has seen, Jub Jub said police arrested him at his residence on allegations that he had discharged and pointed a firearm at the emailing driver at his residence.

He explained that shortly before his arrest, he had requested an e-hailing service for his girlfriend, whose identity he withheld because she is a potential state witness and had already provided a statement to police.

According to Jub Jub, he became alarmed when the trip from Greenstone Mall to his Eikenhof home took far longer than expected.

“It was about 7:30 in the morning and I was watching the e-hailing. The distance between my residence and Greenstone Mall is about 10 minutes and it took about 30 minutes,” he stated in the affidavit.

He said his concern was heightened because his girlfriend had allegedly been the victim of an attempted kidnapping two months earlier.

Jub Jub told the court that he repeatedly tried calling his girlfriend but struggled to hear her and that the calls kept dropping. He also attempted to contact the Uber driver, but his calls went unanswered.

Fearing something was wrong, he got into his vehicle and drove towards the complex gate.

“Before I went out of our complex, I saw my girlfriend alighting and running out of the motor vehicle towards the lift,” he said.

He claimed he then confronted the driver and demanded an explanation for the lengthy delay.

According to Jub Jub, the driver initially told him to resolve his issues with his girlfriend before allegedly moving towards him in an aggressive manner.

He told the court that he then took out a pellet gun and fired a blank round into the air.

“The blank bullets make a loud gun-like sound,” he explained.

Jub Jub said the driver later explained that the vehicle had experienced mechanical problems and had stalled during the journey.

After the driver left, he went upstairs to check on his girlfriend.

“When I went inside, without any belligerence, I asked my girlfriend what happened, was she in trouble and whether the driver touched her inappropriately,” he stated.

According to his affidavit, his girlfriend assured him that the vehicle had merely suffered mechanical problems and that poor network coverage had caused the communication difficulties.

Jub Jub further denied allegations that he pointed a firearm at the complainant or unlawfully discharged a firearm.

In the same affidavit, he argued that police acted unlawfully by failing to take him to court on 15 June and requested the High Court to order his release on bail.

The television personality also informed the court that he has no pending criminal matters, regards South Africa as his permanent home and was willing to surrender his passport if required.

He further stated that he is a musician, creative and television presenter best known for hosting Uyajola 9/9, You Promised To Marry Me and Uthando Noxolo.
The Ndikhokhele hitmaker told the court that he was booked to perform at a gig on 16 June and was also schedule for a shoot on the same day and detaining him further was going to prejudice him financially.
Moja Love Spokesperson Nonzwakazi Cekete said the channel will not comment on Jub Jub’s private matters. “ We cannot comment as this is a personal matter,” she said.
