Sundowns Ladies keep semi-final hopes alive ahead of crucial FUS Rabat clash
2 min read

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies have kept their hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the 2026 CAF Women's Champions League alive after collecting four points from their opening two Group A matches in Ismailia, Egypt.
The South African side moved into a strong position following a 2-1 victory over Cameroon's Lekié Football Filles on Wednesday, November 4, after opening their campaign with a goalless draw against Egyptian hosts FC Masar on Sunday.
However, the Brazilians face a potentially decisive encounter against Morocco's FUS Rabat in their final group-stage match on Saturday, November 7, knowing that a positive result could secure their passage to the last four.
Sundowns currently occupy second position in Group A with four points, level with leaders FC Masar, who enjoy a superior goal difference. The two sides have emerged as the leading contenders for the group's two semi-final places.
The former champions began their campaign cautiously against Masar, with neither team managing to find the back of the net in their opening encounter.
They returned to action determined to claim maximum points against Lekié, with the victory keeping their continental ambitions firmly on track.
The Cameroonian outfit proved a difficult opponent, but Sundowns showed resilience to secure all three points and strengthen their position in the group.
Meanwhile, Masar boosted their qualification prospects with a convincing victory over FUS Rabat in the other Group A encounter on Wednesday.
The Egyptian hosts' win saw them move to the top of the standings on four points, separated from Sundowns by goal difference.
With the group reaching its decisive stage, Sundowns will need to remain focused against FUS Rabat, who will also be fighting to keep their semi-final ambitions alive.
The Brazilians will be hoping to draw on their experience in continental competition as they pursue another appearance in the semi-finals and continue their quest for African glory.
The top two teams in each group advance to the semi-finals, scheduled for November 11, while the final will take place on November 15.
For Sundowns, Saturday's showdown against FUS Rabat represents a crucial opportunity to confirm their place in the knockout stage and keep their hopes of reclaiming the continental crown alive.
