Limpopo police arrest over 10 voters for photographing ballot papers
1 min read

More than 10 people have been arrested in Limpopo for allegedly violating electoral regulations by photographing their marked ballot papers and sharing or publishing the images on social media.
The arrests were made across various districts in the province as police intensify efforts to ensure compliance with electoral laws during the 2026 Local Government Elections.
Limpopo Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant General Jan Scheepers, has issued a stern warning to voters against photographing their completed ballot papers, reminding them that such conduct is prohibited under the Electoral Act.
Scheepers warned that anyone found violating electoral regulations would face the full might of the law.
Police have urged voters to respect the rules governing the electoral process, follow prescribed voting procedures and refrain from actions that could compromise the secrecy and integrity of the ballot.
Voters are also reminded that protecting the secrecy of their votes is essential to ensuring a free, fair and credible electoral process.
