A 49-year-old man accused of stealing illicit drugs worth more than R260 million from a Hawks office has been granted R50,000 bail.
According to Hawks spokesperson Colonel Katlego Mogale, Lucas Legabe appeared in the Port Shepstone Magistrates’ Court on Monday for a bail judgment on charges of theft, housebreaking and dealing in, alternatively possessing, illicit drugs.
The drugs, valued at more than R260 million, were allegedly part of a consignment that was stolen from the Hawks office.
Mogale said Legabe was granted bail with conditions, including reporting to Brooklyn SAPS every Monday between 6am and 6pm.
He was also ordered to surrender all travel documents to the investigating officer.
Mogale said the case was postponed to December 1, 2026.
The investigation continues.
