A 40-year-old man who admitted to killing his partner with a pick handle is expected to return to the Mpumalanga Division of the High Court in Mbombela on 29 July 2026 (today) for sentencing.
Zakhele John Mbuli , who appeared before the court on Tuesday 28 July 2026, pleaded guilty to the premeditated murder of his partner, Lindiwe Julia Maseko, and was subsequently convicted.
According for Mpumalanga NPA Spokesperson Monica Nyuswa, the court heard that the murder occurred on March 8, 2025, in Nhlazatshe after an argument between the couple turned violent.
Mbuli bludgeoned Maseko with a pick handle, striking her on the head and neck.
She died instantly at the scene.
Nyuswa said Maseko will get justice today when the court sentences Mbuli.
