Television actress Nivarna Nokhuthula Nokwe-Mseleku is facing legal action after allegedly falling behind on payments for a financed vehicle valued at more than half a million rand.
Africa Daily can exclusively reveal that Nokwe-Mseleku , who acted in the drama series titled Outlaws , Red Ink and flicks such as Umjolo: My Beginning, My End, has been hauled before the Joburg High Court by Nedbank which is seeking an order to repossess her vehicle.
According to court papers which we have seen , Nokwe-Mseleku , who took a break from acting after accusing fellow actor Bongo Khoza of sexual assault, entered into an instalment sale agreement with Nedbank on 25 August 2023 for the purchase of a 2023 Nissan Magnite 1.0T Acenta Plus.
The documents state that Nedbank conducted the necessary affordability and credit checks before entering into the agreement, including assessing the actress’s financial position, debt repayment history and understanding of the risks and obligations attached to the contract.
In terms of the agreement, the finance company allegedly advanced an amount of over R297 000 for the purchase of the vehicle.
Court documents further reveal that Nokwe-Mseleku was expected to make 72 monthly instalments of more than R6.800 beginning in October 2023, along with a balloon payment of R103,669 due in August 2029.
However, Nedbank claims the actress breached the agreement after failing to keep up with monthly repayments from at least September 2025. At the time the summons was issued, she was in arrears of over R39 000.
The finance company further alleges that as of January 2026, the outstanding balance owed under the agreement stood at more than R417 000, excluding additional interest accumulating at a rate of 15.60% per annum.
According to the court papers, Nedbank informed the actress of the arrears and pleaded with her to keep the account up to date.
The company claims Nokwe-Mseleku failed to respond adequately or settle the outstanding amount within the required period.
As a result, the bank cancelled the agreement and wants the actress to return the vehicle.
Nedbank also maintains despite cancelling the contract, the vehicle remains in the actress’s possession even though the ownership of the Nissan Magnite remains vested in the finance company until the full amount owed has been paid.
Now the bank wants an order confirming that the agreement has been cancelled.
It also seeks an an order compelling the actress to return the vehicle, pay its legal costs, and further damages to be determined at a later stage.
“Wherefore the plaintiff prays for judgment against the defendant for confirmation of cancellation of the agreement,an order for the return to the plaintiff of a 2023 Nissan Magniter 1.0T Acenta Plus,” reads the papers.
Nokwe-Mseleku had not responded to our written questions at the time of publishing.
