The Limpopo lekompo music industry has been plunged into mourning  again following the tragic death of rising musician Nova SA Style.

The Limpopo lekompo music industry has been plunged into mourning  again following the tragic death of rising musician Nova SA Style.

The artist, whose real name was Mpho Eric Ngoepe, died in a car accident on Friday night while returning from Gauteng, where he had launched his latest single, Skhethe.

Although details of the accident were still foggy, it is alleged that  Star Nova SA and his unnamed colleague were standing outside their vehicle when another one ran them over. Star Nova SA succumbed to his injuries whilst his friend is fighting for his life in hospital.

His death was officially confirmed on Monday, 11 May, by his management company, 8.4.4 Entertainment.

In an emotional statement, the management described Nova SA Style as more than just an artist, saying he was family to them.

“It is with heavy hearts that we confirm the passing of our brother and artist, Mpho Eric Ngoepe, also known as Nova SA Style,” the statement read.

According to the statement, the musician was travelling with other occupants at the time of the accident. Some reportedly survived the crash and are recovering.

Nova SA Style had quickly become one of the promising voices in the growing lekompo genre, earning recognition for his energetic performances and authentic sound that resonated with fans across Limpopo and beyond.

The musician leaves behind a catalogue of popular tracks, including his newest release Skhethe, as well as fan favourites 10 Gram and Lerato Le Fedile.

Management said his music reflected his connection with ordinary people and the streets that shaped him.

“Those tracks showed exactly who he was — an authentic and talented artist connected to the streets and the people,” the statement continued.

The family and management have appealed for privacy and prayers as they deal with the devastating loss. Memorial and funeral details are expected to be announced in the coming days.

Nova SA Style’s death comes shortly after the passing of another rising lekompo artist, Queen Terc, who also died in a car accident about two weeks ago.

The 22-year-old singer was laid to rest on Saturday, 9 May in Phalaborwa.

The recent tragedies have deepened grief within the Limpopo entertainment industry, which has also lost artists such as Juddy Malekere, Fuego and Kenny Bevhula in recent years.

Chairperson of the Limpopo Artists Movement, Mphoza Mashabela, said the industry was struggling to cope with the repeated loss of young talent.

“My heart is sore. I’m in pain. We’re losing young Limpopo artists within a short space of time. We’re asking for  South Africans to pray for us,” he said.
