According to the Presidency, President Cyril Ramaphosa made the appointment on Thursday, January 22, 2026, in accordance with section 2A(1) of the Public Protector Act, 1994, after the National Assembly recommended it.
Advocate Dube has more than 20 years of experience in the public sector and is skilled in oversight, complaints handling, and investigations, according to Vincent Magwenya, the president’s spokesperson. She was Chief Director: Operations at the Office of the Military Ombudsman before becoming Director-General of the Public Service Commission.

According to Magwenya, she served as the provincial director of the Gauteng Office of the Public Protector from 2011 to 2014.
According to the Presidency, she has also worked as a legal officer at the South African Human Rights Commission and in complaints resolution at the Department of Trade and Industry’s Office of Consumer Protection.
