Zuma dissolves MK Party’s Presidential Task Team, establishes new Strategic Presidential Team

President Jacob Zuma has established a new Strategic Presidential Team (SPT), replacing the MK Party’s Presidential Task Team (PTT) with immediate effect in a move aimed at strengthening the party’s leadership and decision-making structures.

According to a media statement released by MK Party national spokesperson Sifiso Mahlangu, the Strategic Presidential Team has been established in terms of Section 7.2(h) of the party’s Constitution and will serve as the party’s highest decision-making and strategic leadership body.

The statement said the new structure has been given overarching authority to provide leadership, strategic direction, organisational coordination and oversight of the implementation of the party’s political programme and constitutional mandate.

“The decision is intended to strengthen the party’s leadership architecture, consolidate strategic authority, eliminate fragmentation in decision-making and ensure disciplined, unified and effective execution of Party resolutions and programmes,” the statement read.

The party confirmed that the PTT has been formally dissolved, with all its powers, responsibilities, mandates and functions transferred to the SPT.

The new body will also assume responsibility for the party’s secretariat and financial administration, including governance, coordination and strategic management.

According to the statement, the SPT will work alongside the party’s national officials to ensure organisational effectiveness, accountability and the implementation of the MK Party’s programmes and electoral strategy.

Among its key responsibilities are exercising strategic leadership and decision-making, overseeing the implementation of party policies and resolutions, managing electoral strategy and voter mobilisation, strengthening coordination across party structures, and promoting unity and organisational cohesion.

Mahlangu said Zuma had expressed confidence that the SPT and the national officials would provide united leadership and position the party for electoral success.

The MK Party has called on all its leaders, Members of Parliament, public representatives, members and organisational structures to support and implement the decision.
