Sultry social media influencer Kefilwe “Kefibo” Mabote has dumped her husband, Delani Prince Makaya, barely three months after they walked down the aisle.
The disintegration of Mabote’s connubiality, which could rank among the shortest celebrity marriages in South Africa, was revealed by sources close to the Soweto-born rose.
Their short-lived union raises the question of whether it could qualify for a mention in the Guinness World Records, of local celebrity with the shortest betrothal.
The split came after Mabote allegedly informed her close allies that she had separated from Makaya following a dispute over their financial affairs.
Speaking to Africa Daily, a deep-throat source, who asked not to be named for fear of victimisation, said Mabote married Makaya out of community of property, subject to the accrual system, on 29 August last year in Muldersdrift, Gauteng.
The source said Mabote had decided to approach her lawyers to pursue a divorce and ask the court to order that neither party benefits financially from the other’s estate under the accrual system.
The mole said Mabote told them that their conjugality had collapsed beyond repair, with no prospect of rekindling their love and saving the union because Makaya had allegedly misrepresented his financial affairs and details about his previous espousal to his alleged first wife.
The tipster alleged that Mabote further claimed Makaya’s handling of his finances caused her serious concern and that he kept detailed records of every contribution towards her expenses.
The informant further alleged that Mabote told them Makaya had attempted to gain control over her assets and resources, leaving her feeling fearful and insecure.
The porcelain-skinned model allegedly told her sympathisers that she had tried to get Makaya to fix their faltering wedlock, but he was unwilling to discuss her concerns or reassure her.
“She also said that she organised family meetings and asked the elders to intervene, but Makaya failed to attend those family mediation meetings, leaving her with no option but to throw her hands in the air and hit the road,” said the source.
Mabote allegedly told her close pals that cracks started showing in their partnership after they stopped living together as husband and wife in October last year, barely a month after their wedding.
“She further said that they maintained separate households and had different lifestyles, values and standards, which made it difficult for them to agree on a shared way of life,” said the source.
The source said that after consulting her family, Mabote decided on 19 November 2025 that she no longer wanted to continue the matrimony.
She subsequently communicated her decision to Makaya and called time on their union.
The source said Mabote told them that, although she was still holding a torch for Makaya, ending the marriage was made easier by the fact that they had no children together.
“She said she would ask her lawyers to approach the court for a decree of divorce and confirmation that she and Makaya waive their rights to claim a share of each other’s estates under the accrual system.
“If that does not work, she will ask the court to order the forfeiture of the benefits of the accrual system, arguing that Makaya would be unduly benefited if such an order were not granted,” said the source.
The source added: “She does not wish to claim a share of Makaya’s estate, provided he also waives any claim to hers.
“However, should Makaya file a counterclaim seeking a share of her estate, she will pursue her claim for forfeiture of the benefits of the accrual system.”
Mabote ignored our phone calls and a message we sent to her asking for a comment. A woman who identified herself as Makaya’s first wife answered his phone and promised to ask him to return our call. She later phoned again and said Makaya is not interested in discussing the story with the media. “I think go back to that woman who is his wife or his ex-wife and talk to her, and please don’t involve me in their business,” she said.
