Mamelodi Sundowns begin their quest to reclaim the Betway Premiership title on Tuesday when they travel to Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit to face a TS Galaxy side that denied them crucial points in last season’s title race.
Kick-off is at 7.30pm.
The Brazilians will be looking to settle a score with the Rockets, who played a significant role in their failure to retain the league title last season.
Galaxy stunned Sundowns 1-0 at the same venue in the second round of the 2025/26 campaign, with Kamogelo Sebelebele scoring the only goal in the 44th minute.
The defeat cost Sundowns valuable points during the title race and will add extra motivation when the two sides meet again.
Having won the CAF African Champions League before most of their players joined the Bafana Bafana squad that performed well at the recent 2026 FIFA World Cup, Sundowns will be eager to start their league campaign on a positive note.
The Brazilians also go into the encounter with confidence after registering a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Polokwane City in the MTN8 quarter-finals at the weekend.
Sundowns will be determined to reclaim the league title after Orlando Pirates were crowned champions last season, finishing just one point ahead of the Brazilians.
Meanwhile, Polokwane City will also return to league action on Tuesday when they host Stellenbosch FC at the Seshego Stadium in Polokwane.
The Limpopo side goes into the match after suffering a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Sundowns in the MTN8 quarter-finals.
Rise and Shine had made a positive start to their Betway Premiership campaign, beating Richards Bay 2-1 in their opening league match.
They will now be hoping to put their MTN8 disappointment behind them and return to winning ways as they continue their league campaign.
Two other Betway Premiership matches will be played on Tuesday, with Chippa United welcoming Richards Bay at the Donsonville Stadium in Soweto, while Marumo Gallants host Kruger United at their new home, Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Phokeng, Rustenburg.
