Another woman’s body has been found in Ekurhuleni, bringing the number of women discovered dead in the area to 11.
Africa Daily can reveal that police made another grim discovery on Saturday morning, 26 September, when the half-naked body of a woman was found at a cemetery in the Tembisa area.
According to a police officer who spoke to Africa Daily on condition of anonymity because he is not authorised to speak to the media, the woman’s body was found at Mooinfontein Cemetery at about 7.30am.
Members of the public discovered the body and alerted the police.
Africa Daily has learnt that police officers from different police stations across Ekurhuleni were rushing to the scene following the discovery.
The latest incident comes amid growing concern over a series of women’s bodies being discovered in the Ekurhuleni area.
It has also raised questions about whether the deaths could be linked, with suspicions that a serial killer could be operating in the area.
Police have yet to confirm whether the latest death is connected to the other cases.
The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, including her identity and cause of death, were not immediately known.
