Road-running enthusiasts are expected to descend on Seshego Stadium in Polokwane this Sunday, 11 October, for the 2026 Seshego Marathon, which features distances catering for both elite athletes and recreational runners.
The event will feature a 50km ultra-marathon, a 21.1km half-marathon, a 10km race and a 5km fun run, offering runners an opportunity to test their endurance and fitness at different levels.
The 50km ultra-marathon is particularly significant for athletes preparing for some of South Africa’s major long-distance road-running events, as it serves as a qualifier for the Comrades and Two Oceans marathons.
The first race is scheduled to start at 05:30, with participants expected to arrive early to prepare for the day’s activities.
Race-number collection is scheduled for Saturday, 10 October, at Seshego Stadium between 09:00 and 21:00.
Online entries are scheduled to close on Saturday, although prospective participants should confirm whether late entries are available before making their way to the venue.
The Seshego Marathon remains an important fixture on Limpopo’s road-running calendar, providing athletes with an opportunity to compete, improve their times and measure themselves against runners from different parts of the province and beyond.
With several race distances on offer, the event is expected to bring together experienced marathon runners, aspiring athletes and members of the community who want to participate in a healthy and active lifestyle.
Runners are encouraged to confirm the latest arrangements with the race organisers before travelling to Seshego Stadium.
