A 61-year-old doctor has gone missing in Mokopane after dropping his partner off at her rented room, with police now appealing to the public for information that could help locate him.
Dr Rega Mohammed Tavangar, an employee at Mokopane Hospital, was last seen by his partner at about 6pm on 27 August 2026 when he reportedly dropped her off at her room in Voortrekker Street.
According to Limpopo SAPS spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, Tavangar was travelling in a white Landwind with registration number KV3VM GP.
He was reportedly wearing grey jeans, black sandals and a brown shirt at the time.
In the early hours of 28 August, at about midnight, Tavangar’s partner reportedly received a payment from him into her bank account.
She contacted him at about 6am after realising she had possibly left her wallet in his vehicle.
Tavangar reportedly told her he would send the wallet with her daughter, who was staying with him at the Mokopane Hospital Residence.
But that was reportedly the last communication she had with him.
His cellphones have since been switched off and attempts to contact him have been unsuccessful.
Concern over his whereabouts grew on 3 September when Mokopane Hospital reportedly made enquiries after Tavangar failed to report for duty.
A missing-person case has been opened at Mahwelereng SAPS as investigators work to establish his whereabouts and the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have information that could help locate Tavangar to contact Sergeant Maesela Ledwaba on 078 914 0087.
