Three men accused of killing two police officers and two civilians during a shooting in Reiger Park, Boksburg, will remain in custody after their bail hearing was postponed.
Regan Cheslyn Collins, 23, Jamal Meyer, 24, and Elvino Crawford, 27, appeared in the Boksburg Magistrates’ Court on 25 August, where their bail proceedings were postponed to 8 September 2026 for further hearing.
The State is opposing bail and has placed evidence before the court relating to the seriousness of the charges, the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences, the safety of the community and the potential risk posed by the accused if released.
According to NPA Gauteng communications officer Magaboke Mohlatlole, the three men face four counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and two counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances.
They also face charges relating to the unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The charges stem from a fatal shooting in Reiger Park on 7 August 2026, in which Roleen Lessing, Jayden Magerman, Constable Tomatsane and Constable Sibeko were killed.
Tomatsane and Sibeko were members of the South African Police Service’s Anti-Gang Unit.
Mohlatlole said the matter had been postponed for the continuation of the bail proceedings.
