Chiefs set for Zimbabwean champions in Toyota Cup showdown

Kaizer Chiefs will continue their preparations for the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season when they host Zimbabwean Premier Soccer League champions Scottland FC in the third edition of the Toyota Cup at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg on Sunday, July 26.

The annual pre-season tournament, organised in partnership with Toyota South Africa, has become an important fixture on the football calendar by giving Amakhosi the opportunity to test themselves against top African opposition before the start of the domestic campaign.

This year’s edition promises to be another exciting spectacle as Chiefs take on a Scottland FC side boasting familiar faces in former Amakhosi stars Khama Billiat and Knowledge Musona. The duo are expected to receive a warm welcome from the Chiefs faithful after making a lasting impact during their time at Naturena.

The eagerly anticipated encounter will kick off at 3pm, while stadium gates will open at 9am to accommodate thousands of supporters expected to descend on the North West venue.

Fans will also be treated to a curtain-raiser at noon when the Kaizer Chiefs Legends square off against the Jozi Masters in a nostalgic clash featuring some of South African football’s former stars.

Adding to the excitement, one lucky supporter attending the event will drive away in a brand-new Toyota Hilux Double Cab, which will be awarded during the half-time break of the main match.

For Chiefs, the Toyota Cup provides another valuable opportunity for coach and players to assess their readiness ahead of the new season, fine-tune combinations and build momentum before competitive football resumes.

Scottland FC, meanwhile, will use the occasion to measure themselves against one of South Africa’s biggest clubs as they prepare to defend their Zimbabwean league crown.

Since its introduction, the Toyota Cup has grown into one of the country’s premier pre-season football events, strengthening football ties between South Africa and neighbouring countries while giving supporters an opportunity to watch high-quality football before the new campaign begins.

Tickets for the event are available through Computicket BoxOffice, with organisers expecting another capacity crowd for what promises to be an entertaining afternoon of football in Rustenburg.
