As digital migration continues to reshape everyday services, the Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has announced that it will move from cash payments to a fully cashless payment system at all its service points across the province.
Effective from August 1, members of the public paying for traffic fines, vehicle licence discs, driver’s licence applications and renewals, abnormal load permits, and other departmental services will be required to use approved cashless payment methods.
No cash payments will be accepted.
The department said the following payment options will be available:
Debit and credit cards – Tap, swipe, or insert.
EFT and instant payments – Secure electronic bank transfers.
Mobile payments – Scan-to-Pay and other approved digital payment platforms.
Department spokesperson Mashudi Mabata said the introduction of the cashless payment system forms part of efforts to improve service delivery, enhance security, promote transparency, and provide convenient payment options for customers.
“We therefore encourage members of the public to prepare for this transition and make use of the available electronic payment methods when visiting any departmental service point from August 1,” said Mabata.
