Warrant of Arrest Issued for Jub Jub

Controversial musician and television personality Molemo Katleho Maarohanye, better known as Jub Jub, is facing an arrest warrant after failing to appear before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on Monday, August 24.

The warrant was issued after the media personality failed to attend his scheduled court proceedings.

Jub Jub’s legal representatives told the court that he had been booked off sick since Thursday, August 20.

Despite issuing the warrant, the court directed that it should remain inactive until September 7, when Jub Jub is expected to return to court.

The 42-year-old is facing charges of discharging a firearm in a public place and pointing an object resembling a firearm at another person.

The charges stem from an alleged confrontation with an e-hailing driver in Edenvale on June 14.

It is alleged that Jub Jub confronted the driver after becoming suspicious that he was romantically involved with his girlfriend.

According to police, the confrontation allegedly escalated after Jub Jub forced the driver into his vehicle and prevented him from leaving.

Police further allege that Jub Jub fired a gun in the direction of the driver during the confrontation.

The driver managed to get away without sustaining injuries before heading straight to a nearby police station to report the alleged incident.

After his arrest, Jub Jub approached the Johannesburg High Court on an urgent basis, challenging the delay in bringing him before the Germiston Magistrate’s Court and applying for bail.

The high court granted the application on June 16 and released him on R5,000 bail pending his first appearance.

Jub Jub, who presents Uyajola 9/9, has previously faced serious legal troubles.

In 2012, he was convicted in connection with a fatal crash that claimed the lives of four schoolchildren.

In 2024, separate charges of rape, attempted murder and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm were withdrawn against him.
