Cedric Kaze’s relationship with Sekhukhune United has come to an abrupt end after the club terminated the coach’s contract in what is understood to have been an amicable parting of ways.
Kaze’s stay at the Limpopo-based outfit lasted only a few months after he was appointed ahead of the 2026/27 season, replacing Eric Tinkler.
The Burundian coach arrived at Sekhukhune with expectations of building on the club’s progress and competing strongly on both the domestic and cup fronts. However, his tenure has now been cut short as the club looks to chart a new direction.
One of the most striking features of Kaze’s brief spell was his difficult run against Orlando Pirates.
Under his guidance, Sekhukhune United suffered three defeats against the Soweto giants within the space of just two months, including meetings in both the Betway Premiership and MTN8.
The repeated losses to Pirates added pressure to Kaze’s short tenure, particularly as the two sides crossed paths several times in a tightly packed fixture schedule.
Despite the setbacks, Kaze’s departure is understood not to have been the result of a bitter fallout between the coach and the club. Sources close to the situation indicate that the decision to terminate his contract was reached amicably, with both parties agreeing to bring their relationship to an end.
Kaze leaves Sekhukhune at a time when the club is expected to move quickly in identifying a replacement as the Betway Premiership season gathers momentum.
The club’s next appointment will face the immediate challenge of stabilising the team and ensuring that Sekhukhune remain competitive after a turbulent start to the campaign.
