March and March leader Jacinta Ngobese-Zuma and her husband, Xolani Zuma, are prepared to hand themselves over to the police after claims that arrest warrants have been issued against them.
Xolani made the announcement on social media on Wednesday 14 October , saying the alleged warrants were linked to the activities of the anti-illegal immigration movement.
However, he expressed doubt about the authenticity of the information, saying the movement’s team was working to establish whether the claims were true.
No independent confirmation of the alleged warrants was immediately available, and Zuma did not specify which activities were reportedly linked to them.
Despite questioning the claims, he said both he and Ngobese-Zuma were willing to cooperate with the authorities should the information prove to be true.
“I do not believe that it is true, but to the extent that it is, we are available to hand ourselves over to the police today,” he said.
March and March has become a prominent voice in South Africa’s heated immigration debate, campaigning for action against undocumented foreign nationals.
Amid the uncertainty, Zuma urged members of the movement to remain calm and avoid any actions that could lead to unrest.
“Our team is investigating the veracity of the information, and we request all the members of March and March Movement to remain calm during this period, we still call for peaceful solutions to our domestic problems,” he said.
This is a developing story.
