Claims emerge over the reported death of Mamelodi Sundowns star Jayden Adams

Unconfirmed reports circulating on Saturday have claimed that Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams has died in an incident at a lodge in Verulam, KwaZulu-Natal.

At the time of publication, neither Mamelodi Sundowns, the South African Football Association (SAFA), the South African Police Service nor Adams’ family had publicly confirmed the reports or released details regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The reports emerged barely two weeks after Adams suffered the loss of his grandmother, Marianna Adams, while he was on national team duty at the FIFA World Cup.
Following news of his grandmother’s passing, Adams was seen sitting quietly away from his jubilant Bafana Bafana teammates as they celebrated the team’s progression to the knockout stages of the tournament. Despite the personal tragedy, he continued to represent South Africa and featured in the team’s match against Czechia.
