October 05, 2019
Veteran journalist, and cultural activist Farook Khan has died at the age of 75 after being treated for colon cancer. He passed away on Thursday this week after being hospitalized for three weeks.
He will be dearly missed as he played a role of being a brother, mentor, friend, uncle, and an inspiration to many around him.
Khan received fame for his investigative reporting during apartheid and also for establishing the Miss India South Africa Pageant, which is part of the Miss India Worldwide Pageant. The Pageant has seen hundreds of young women from the diaspora find new avenues for their careers.
Journalists who were mentored by Khan, paid tributes and many of them attended the funeral as well on Friday.
