Durban, South Africa: KwaZulu-Natal born business man and music maestro who is well known for his appearances with the Joyous Celebration brand, Lindelani Mkhize will once again this year present his music and lifestyle production Ignite, to showcase young unknown talent.

The ignite music and festival is scheduled to take place on December 22, 2017 at the Moses Mabhida Presidential Atrium.

Ignite is a platform created for young people from various age groups and who are from all around South Africa to showcase their talents to the entertainment industry.

The multi-talented Mkhize said Ignite came about when he saw the need to find and expose and nature young and unknown talent. Ignite was thus born out of a burning desire for him to see such talent not go unnoticed.

“After the many I have spent in the music and creative arts industry, I realized that our biggest problem as an industry is that although our youth is talented and academically knowledgeable for those who make it to higher institutions of learning, they lack the financial resources, mentoring and guidance of how to go about pursuing and building their music career,” said Mkhize.

He further stated:" Ignite is an accessible platform for artists wishing to put their foot at the door of the entertainment industry. The event is attended by talent scouts, recording company executives, music promoters and investors who the unknown talent would have otherwise not had access to or at least had difficulty in presenting their craft to them. So essentially, the possibilities are endless once on the Ignite stage.”

Mkhize confirmed that this year the cast consists of 40 people who will take to centre stage and of those 40 “almost half are coming from KZN and the others from Gauteng”.

The youngest member of the cast this year is 13-year-old Itumeleng Silela from Pinetown KZN.

Silela said she was excited at the opportunity to perform on the Ignite stage and paid special tribute to her father Lehlohonolo Silela, who is also her manager and mentor for entering her into the #Ignitemyfire competition.

Welile Gumede (25) who is part of the cast added she was excited about the opportunit granted to her and cannot wait for the masses to see her perform.

“I am very exctited about Ignite. I feel like it’s a very big platform and it’s something that I have been waiting for almost my whole life because I have never had this kind of platform although I have worked hard for it. I’m grateful that Lindelani created something for us,” said Gumede.
