The NXT LVL show gives young South Africans the opportunity to follow their passions and realize their dreams, by giving access to all the things needed to help anyone get ahead in the music business.
Having been involved in music since she was a child, Zethe, who hails from Empangeni says she has grown as an artist over the years. She tells Africa Daily that her confidence in her art is so much stronger. “I believe in what I give out also. My work ethic has really become that of a professional musician. I’ve made so many mistakes but I've never given up and in that I’ve learnt to be more true to myself,” she says.
What triggered her attention to enter the competition is the mentorship part of the show, “I was like well here is something with an interest to grow me as a musician.”
She explains the whole process she had to go through before landing on the top five that are featured on the show, “I sent a video of myself singing on the Vodacom app. I then received a call that I made it to the top 20 and had to go to JHB for the live audition. Two days later, I found out that I am one of the top5 contestants. The rest is history.”
Through the NXT LVL, Zethe says she has learnt so much, but what really stuck out with her which she describes as her biggest lesson is “being true to who I am, and my craft at all times.”
“Drama” is one of the things viewers should expect from her on the show, she chuckles. She says what makes the show exciting is that no one has a smooth ride and the challenges are what makes the show exciting.
On her NXT LVL profile, Zethe says she looks forward to releasing her first album, taking everything she learns from the show into account, and collaborating with some of the big names in the industry, her ultimate being Thandiswa Mazwai.
She tells Africa Daily that in the next 5 years she sees herself touring the world with her music, “I really want to tour and that’s the time frame I am giving myself. This is competition means so much to me. I would really appreciate all the votes.”
